Welcome to the University Libraries at Virginia Tech!

We are proud to support students, faculty, staff, and community members while contributing to Virginia Tech’s mission as a global land-grant university. As Virginia Tech envisions its future, we are poised to help our community address complex interdisciplinary problems while providing access to a depth of resources in varying disciplines.

In 2016 alone, we added more than 100 new electronic resources which collectively give our faculty, staff, and students access to millions more pages of content they can use in research, teaching, and scholarship.

We strive to provide our students and patrons with access to emerging technologies and collaborative spaces for creative work. Our series of studios encourages exploration with advanced hardware and software, 3D printing, virtual reality, data visualization, and more while fostering an atmosphere of open experimentation and discovery.

Our growing open data and research repositories facilitate exchanging information and knowledge regardless of geographic, institutional, or financial barriers. And our work supporting open access publishing and open educational resources supports the growing need for openly available research and learning materials.

Through Special Collections, we provide rich primary source materials for students and scholars to evaluate and use in new and different ways. Our digitization efforts aim to expand access to these rare and unique collections.

Whether you visit us digitally or in person, we hope you enjoy your time with us and welcome you to contact us if you need our help.

Sincerely,

Tyler Walters, Ph.D.
